What we buy

The Herman Miller Models We Buy

Aeron

Classic and Remastered, all three sizes. The mesh, the arm pads and the tilt are what we check.

Embody

Fabric wear and the back mechanism decide the offer. Frames rarely fail.

Mirra and Mirra 2

Butterfly back and seat condition matter most. Strong demand in batches.

Sayl

Lower value per chair, still worth selling in a batch. Back webbing and arm pads are the wear points.

Herman Miller chairs hold their value better than almost any other office seating, and matching batches of the same model are worth the most because they resell as complete sets.

Which Herman Miller Models Hold Their Value Best

  • Aeron Remastered The strongest seller by a distance. Businesses ask for it by name, a fully loaded one with PostureFit SL and adjustable arms is worth the most, and a matching batch in one size resells as a set.
  • Embody Second on value per chair and the hardest to find used, so a batch does not sit. The back mechanism rarely fails and the fabric is what we assess.
  • Aeron Classic Steady demand and the deepest supply, so condition decides where it lands. Size B batches move fastest.
  • Mirra 2 Sells well in quantity to businesses fitting whole floors. The butterfly back and the seat edge are the wear points.
  • Sayl The lowest per chair of the five and still worth including, because it fills a batch and businesses buy it for breakout and hot desks.

Strongest first. This is the order we see in what businesses ask for, not a price list, and condition and quantity move a batch up or down it.

What sets the offer

What We Check on a Herman Miller Batch

  • Mesh or fabric: sag, tears and staining
  • Arm pads: cracked, compressed or shiny caps
  • Gas lift: does the chair hold its height
  • Tilt and PostureFit: every adjustment working
  • Frame: cracks, chips and deep scratches
  • Batch: matching model, size and colour

We state what we will pay rather than what the batch might fetch elsewhere. Arm pads, gas lifts and castors go on as standard during refurbishment, so those lower an offer a little. Torn mesh and a failed tilt cost more to put right and move it further.

What to send

What to Photograph on a Herman Miller Batch

  • The whole chair from the front and the side, on a plain floor
  • The back of an Aeron, showing the size dots at the rear of the mesh frame
  • The arm pads close up, which is where the wear shows first
  • The label under the seat, for the model and the date code
  • One photo of the batch together, so we can see how many match

Mixed sizes are normal

Most offices bought Aerons in one size and topped up in another. Photograph the size dots and we grade each size in the same offer rather than treating the batch as one lot.

Fully loaded is worth saying

Adjustable arms, PostureFit SL and a tilt limiter are the difference between two chairs that look identical in a photograph. If you know the spec, tell us, and the offer lands closer first time.

Phone photographs are fine. These are the shots that let us make an offer that holds at inspection.

How a Herman Miller Batch Actually Sells

Recognised everywhere

Herman Miller is the one office chair brand the public knows by name, so a single chair sells itself. A batch is a different job: two hundred listings, two hundred collections and two hundred chances of a dispute.

Value sits in the spec

A fully loaded Aeron Remastered with PostureFit SL and adjustable arms is a different chair from a basic Classic with fixed arms. Tell us the spec and the size in your list and the offer lands closer first time.

Size B moves fastest

Size B is the common one and the easiest to resell, so mixed-size batches are graded size by size. Size A and C still sell, to a smaller pool.

The process is the same for every batch Send photos and a list, get an offer within one working day, we book collection around your business hours, and payment follows inspection. Seating from 25 at a time, from businesses and organisations only.

How Selling Works
Where they go

What Happens to the Chairs We Buy

Every batch is stripped, cleaned, fitted with new arm pads, gas lifts and castors, tested and resold to another business. Chairs beyond refurbishment are recycled by material and nothing goes to landfill. See the refurbished Herman Miller chairs we sell, or read how Reuse Credit works against a clearance. A business keeping its fleet should look at chair refurbishment instead.

Common questions

Selling Herman Miller Chairs, Answered

Do you buy single Herman Miller chairs?

No. We buy from businesses and organisations in batches of 25 or more, and we do not buy home office furniture. A single chair is better sold privately.

Which Herman Miller models do you buy?

Aeron in every size and version, Embody, Mirra and Mirra 2, and Sayl. Other Herman Miller task chairs are considered on their photos.

How do I tell a Classic Aeron from a Remastered?

The Remastered has PostureFit SL, a fixed lumbar pad low on the back, and a tighter weave. The Classic has either a lumbar pad on rails or a wire PostureFit. The label under the seat carries the date code if you are unsure.

Does a torn mesh write the chair off?

No, but it is the expensive repair on an Aeron, and the offer reflects it. Arm pads, gas lifts and castors are replaced as standard, so those lower the offer far less.

We have 300 Aerons across several floors. Can you handle that?

Yes. Large batches are graded on site rather than from photos, and collection is booked floor by floor around your business hours.

Can the value come off a clearance instead?

Yes. If the chairs are part of an office clearance their resale value is credited against the clearance invoice as Reuse Credit, and we handle the rest of the building.

Rated by the Organisations We Work With

The team at Coggin helped me with an office refurb this summer and the service was 10/10. No pressure was applied and Jess allowed me to plan and take my time. We went ahead with 10 desks and multiple storage units, also replacing my old furniture and recycling it. Install was extremely smooth with minimal disturbance to our sales floor. We will be using Coggin to refurb 2 other offices in 2026 and 2027.

We used Coggin for our recent office refit. They removed for recycling our old office kit and supplied c. 30 refurbished chairs, at a fraction of the cost of buying new. From start to finish, Jess was a delight to work with, being prompt with information, keeping us informed and being flexible when we changed our minds. Would recommend these chaps in a heartbeat.

Thank you to Jess and all the team at Coggin for their hard work and dedication in providing us with more high quality refurbished chairs, and a full impact report for our ESG & sustainability reporting. I'd have no hesitation in recommending their services, every item we've received has been of very high quality with service to match.
