Charity Support & Donations
Since 2020 we have given office furniture to charities, schools and community groups across the UK. Chairs, desks, storage and soft seating that came out of offices we cleared, checked and passed on. This page is what that has added up to.
- Free to UK registered charities, schools, CICs and non-profits
- Every item quality checked and cleaned before it is rehomed
- Free kerbside delivery to the Lancaster and Preston areas
The Furniture Ends Up Somewhere Useful
Since July 2024, when we started recording every donation properly, this is what has gone out of the door.

CO2e avoided, estimated
Figures from our own donations records, correct at August 2026. These are the donations we have tracked since July 2024, not everything we have ever given: we were donating furniture long before we started counting it properly. Carbon is an estimate on the same basis as the certificate each organisation receives. The value is what the furniture was worth, from the same records, and it is the figure shown on our donation page.
Two Examples
Age UK Lancashire
Sharon Watson from Age UK Lancashire reached out to us in 2020 to see if we could support the volunteers with home working office furniture sets throughout the pandemic, and of course we put our resources together to make this happen.
We provided refurbished desks and chairs to help those in need. It keeps perfectly good furniture in use rather than in landfill, and it lets charities furnish their offices without the cost that usually comes with it.
Burnley FC in the Community
Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions are a highly valued partner and this latest generous donation of really smart tables and chairs are a great boost to the café – and to the charity as a whole. Word is certainly spreading that the café is a great place to come and eat and we are welcoming more and more customers through the doors every day.
Sara Ward, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community
It means a lot to be in a position to be able to support such a great cause as Burnley FC in the Community with charity office furniture. I have always lived by the mantra that if you can help those in need, you do so with no questions asked. Our door will always be open to support Burnley FC in the Community with the donation of quality upcycled office furniture.
Sam Coggin, Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions
They have been incredibly generous on more than one occasion, and I cannot thank them enough. We're a small, local not-for-profit, and thanks to them, we've been able to access high-quality furniture that we've desperately needed but not been able to afford, and were hobbling along without for some time
Huge thank you to Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions and Sam Coggin for the generous donation of the sofas and chairs today to add to our new well-being corner at Bancroft House
Big thanks to Sam Coggin at Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions for donating the desks and chairs
We've given our entrance area a make over - a big thank you to Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions who have very kindly donated our new chairs
We would like to say a massive thank you to Coggin Sustainable Office Solutions who donated Citizens Advice with over £100 of chairs from their recycled range
Where the Furniture Comes From
Every item we give away came out of an office we were paid to clear. That is the honest answer to how it can be free: the clearance covers collecting, sorting and storing the furniture, so by the time a school asks for a set of desks there is nothing left to charge them for.
- 01
A business clears its office
We quote the clearance, remove everything and take it back to Preston. That is the paid job, and it is what funds the rest of this.
- 02
Everything is graded
Each item is checked. Some is refurbished for resale, some is stripped for parts and recycled, and some is set aside for charities.
- 03
Charities are offered what is set aside
Organisations on our list see what is available and tell us what they need. Every request is reviewed individually. There is no charge for the furniture.
Who We Can Help, and How to Ask
We can only give furniture to organisations we can verify, so there is a short list of who qualifies. If you are on it the furniture costs nothing, and kerbside delivery is free to the Lancaster and Preston areas.

Charity Donations, Answered
Who can receive donated furniture?
UK registered charities, state-funded schools, Community Interest Companies and other non-profits. We check the charity number, school URN or company number before we allocate anything, and we review every request individually.
Does the furniture cost anything?
No. The furniture is free, and kerbside delivery is free to the Lancaster and Preston areas when it fits a route we are already running. Kerbside means we unload at the door rather than carry items inside. Further afield you can collect from our Preston facility or talk to us about transport.
What condition is it in?
It is furniture that came out of a working office and is good enough to use again. We check it before we offer it. It is not new and we do not pretend otherwise.
What is usually available?
Task chairs, desks, storage and meeting furniture, in whatever quantities came out of recent clearances. It changes week to week, which is why the alerts list exists.
Can I ask for a specific item?
Yes. Tell us what you need and we will say whether we can allocate it. If we cannot yet, you stay on the list for when it comes in.
How can you give the furniture away for free?
Because it came out of an office clearance we were paid to do. The clearance covers collecting, sorting and storing it. We do not collect furniture free of charge for donation, and we do not charge a charity for what we pass on.
If You Need Furniture, Ask
