What we buy

The Humanscale Models We Buy

Freedom with headrest

The flagship. The headrest pad and the weight-sensitive recline decide the offer.

Freedom without headrest

Same checks, a little less value per chair.

Diffrient World

Mesh back and seat. Frame and mesh condition matter most.

Liberty and Trea

Lower value per chair, still worth selling in a batch.

Humanscale chairs are built to commercial standards and hold their value with buyers who know them. Few private buyers do, so a batch is best sold to a refurbisher.

Which Humanscale Models Hold Their Value Best

  • Freedom with headrest The flagship and consistently the strongest seller. A working weight-sensitive recline and a sound headrest pad put a batch at the top of its range.
  • Freedom without headrest The same chair and the same checks, a step down on value per chair, and still in steady demand.
  • Diffrient World Mesh back and seat, so wear shows less. Sells in quantity to businesses fitting whole floors.
  • Liberty Similar demand to the Diffrient World, with the tri-panel back the thing we look at.
  • Trea The lowest per chair. Worth including where it fills out a batch of Freedoms.

Strongest first. This is the order we see in what businesses ask for, not a price list, and condition and quantity move a batch up or down it.

What sets the offer

What We Check on a Humanscale Batch

  • Upholstery: tears, stains and cracking on leather or vinyl
  • Recline: the Freedom should move smoothly and return upright
  • Headrest: pad condition and the adjustment
  • Arm pads: worn, cracked or compressed caps
  • Gas lift: does the chair hold its height
  • Batch: matching model and finish

We state what we will pay rather than what the batch might fetch elsewhere. Arm pads, gas lifts and upholstery are handled as standard during refurbishment. The recline is the one part worth flagging before we quote.

What to Photograph on a Humanscale Batch

  • The whole chair from the front and the side, on a plain floor
  • The recline, photographed leaning back and upright, if you can
  • The headrest pad close up on a Freedom
  • The arm pads and the upholstery, especially any cracking on vinyl
  • One photo of the batch together, so we can see how many match

Say if the recline sticks

It is the one Humanscale repair that costs real money. Telling us up front means the offer holds at inspection instead of moving, which is better for both of us.

Leather and vinyl clean up

Leather and vinyl Freedoms hold their value better than fabric because they come back with cleaning. Cracked vinyl is reupholstered rather than refused.

Phone photographs are fine. These are the shots that let us make an offer that holds at inspection.

The market

How a Humanscale Batch Actually Sells

A trade brand

Humanscale sells through commercial interiors, so the private market barely knows the name. That does not lower what the chairs are worth, it changes who you should sell them to.

The recline is the chair

The Freedom has no tension knob: it sets itself by your weight. A recline that moves smoothly and returns upright is worth real money, and one that sticks is the one repair worth telling us about up front.

Leather and vinyl hold up

Leather and vinyl Freedom chairs keep their value better than fabric because they clean up. Mesh backs on the Diffrient World and Liberty hide wear well.

The process is the same for every batch Send photos and a list, get an offer within one working day, we book collection around your business hours, and payment follows inspection. Seating from 25 at a time, from businesses and organisations only.

How Selling Works
Where they go

What Happens to the Chairs We Buy

Every batch is stripped, cleaned, the recline serviced, new arm pads and gas lifts fitted, tested and resold to another business. Chairs beyond refurbishment are recycled by material and nothing goes to landfill. See the refurbished Humanscale chairs we sell, or read how Reuse Credit works against a clearance. A business keeping its fleet should look at chair refurbishment instead.

Common questions

Selling Humanscale Chairs, Answered

Do you buy single Humanscale chairs?

No. We buy from businesses and organisations in batches of 25 or more, and we do not buy home office furniture.

Which Humanscale models do you buy?

Freedom with and without headrest, Diffrient World, Liberty and Trea. Other Humanscale task chairs are considered on their photos.

Does a sticking recline rule a Freedom out?

No. It is the one Humanscale repair that costs real money, so the offer reflects it. Say so in your list and the offer will not move at inspection.

Is a headrest worth much more?

Yes. The Freedom with headrest is the flagship and consistently the strongest seller, so a batch of headrest chairs is worth more per chair than the same batch without.

Our chairs are cracked vinyl. Still worth anything?

Usually yes. We reupholster during refurbishment, so cracked vinyl is a cost in the offer rather than a reason to refuse the batch.

Can the value come off a clearance instead?

Yes. If the chairs are part of an office clearance their resale value is credited against the clearance invoice as Reuse Credit, and we handle the rest of the building.

Rated by the Organisations We Work With

The team at Coggin helped me with an office refurb this summer and the service was 10/10. No pressure was applied and Jess allowed me to plan and take my time. We went ahead with 10 desks and multiple storage units, also replacing my old furniture and recycling it. Install was extremely smooth with minimal disturbance to our sales floor. We will be using Coggin to refurb 2 other offices in 2026 and 2027.

We used Coggin for our recent office refit. They removed for recycling our old office kit and supplied c. 30 refurbished chairs, at a fraction of the cost of buying new. From start to finish, Jess was a delight to work with, being prompt with information, keeping us informed and being flexible when we changed our minds. Would recommend these chaps in a heartbeat.

Thank you to Jess and all the team at Coggin for their hard work and dedication in providing us with more high quality refurbished chairs, and a full impact report for our ESG & sustainability reporting. I'd have no hesitation in recommending their services, every item we've received has been of very high quality with service to match.
