What gets replaced
- Reupholstery: seat and back fabric stripped and replaced with commercial-grade upholstery in a choice of colours
- Gas lift replacement: new gas cylinders where the height adjustment has failed, the single most common repair we do
- Castor replacement: new castors where the originals are damaged, missing or wrong for the floor type
- Arm pad replacement: cracked, peeling or flattened arm pads replaced with new components matched to the chair
- Foam replacement: compressed foam removed and replaced with high-density seat cushions under the new cover
Mechanism, frame and finish
- Mechanism service: tilt, synchro and reclining mechanisms serviced and adjusted so every setting works as it should
- Lumbar support: lumbar adjustment re-seated and tested, with the pad re-covered as part of the reupholstery
- Bases and frames: chrome polished back to a mirror finish, or metalwork stripped and powder coated
- Deep clean and test: every chair fully cleaned and every adjustment tested before it goes back into use

This task chair came out of a client office with the seat fabric worn through and the base scuffed. It went back within days with new upholstery and new wearing parts on the same frame. That is the whole service in one chair: keep what lasts and replace what wears.
Office Chair Reupholstery for Businesses: Fabrics, Options and Turnaround
There are three reupholstery options.
Full reupholstery: seat and back
Old covers stripped, foam replaced where it has compressed and new fabric fitted to the seat and the back. The chair comes back looking new and keeps the mechanism your staff already know.
Reupholster the seat only
The seat wears first. Where the back is still sound we recover the seat alone and replace the foam under it, which keeps the per-chair cost down on a big batch.
Reupholster the arms and arm pads
Cracked or flaking arm pads are replaced with new pads matched to the chair. Upholstered arms are re-covered in the same fabric as the seat.

Office chair reupholstery here means the seat and back recovered in contract-grade fabrics, with vinyl on request, and we reupholster desk chairs, meeting chairs and soft seating alike. Business fleets only, from 10 chairs. Chairs are collected in batches and loan chairs are left in their place. Fabrics: the Bondai range Our standard range is Inloom Bondai, a contract crepe weave rated to 150,000 rubs, Medium Hazard fire rated and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, in 34 colourways. Other Inloom ranges and vinyl are available on request. For a rebrand, choose a Bondai colourway to match your brand and every chair comes back the same.

Fabric, colour and turnaround
- Colour matching: Where an existing fleet's fabric is still made we colour-match it so the new batch blends in. For a rebrand, one colourway across the estate brings every chair into line.
- Process: Strip the old cover, replace foam where it has compressed and fit the new cover. Then the mechanism and every adjustment are tested before the chair goes back.
- Turnaround: Each batch is back within days. On orders of 50 chairs or more we reupholster one sample chair first so you approve the fabric and the finish before the fleet follows.
Minimum, loan chairs and where the work happens
- Minimum: Businesses only, from 10 chairs. At 50 chairs and above the per-chair price drops. Under the floor we say so and point you to refurbished chairs in stock.
- Loan chairs: We leave loan chairs in place when a batch is collected, so nobody loses a seat while theirs is away.
- On site or workshop: Most reupholstery happens at our Lancashire workshop with collection and return included. Gas lifts, arm pads and castors can be done on site where the work allows, and you can drop chairs off with us.
- Budget: Many clients fund refurbishment from a maintenance budget rather than capital spend, which often means a shorter procurement route.
Reupholstery is quoted per chair, with a free sample chair on orders of 50 or more. What moves the price: fabric grade, seat only or seat and back, whether the arms are done, and how many chairs are in the batch. 12-month warranty on the parts we replace, subject to our terms and conditions.

Can office chairs be reupholstered?
Yes. Most quality task chairs can be reupholstered. The frame and mechanism stay and the seat and back get new fabric. Worn parts such as the gas lift, castors and arm pads are replaced at the same time. Cheap chairs are not worth the work and we say so, then point you to refurbished chairs in stock.
How much does office chair reupholstery cost?
Office chair reupholstery is priced per chair, and on orders of 50 or more we refurbish a free sample chair first. The price depends on the fabric grade, seat only or seat and back, and whether the arms are done. Batches of 50 chairs or more get a lower per-chair price. Reupholstering chairs you already own saves up to 70% vs replacement.
Do you provide loan chairs while ours are refurbished?
Yes. On batch programmes we leave loan chairs when we collect each batch. Your team keeps working while their chairs are refreshed.
Can you refurbish chairs we have in storage?
Yes, and it is often the best value work we do. You already own the chairs. We collect from storage, refurbish and return them to use.
Do you repair office chairs on site, or do they go to your workshop?
Coggin SOS reupholsters and powder coats at its Lancashire workshop with collection and return included. Gas lifts, arm pads and castors can be replaced on site where the work allows. You can also drop chairs off with us. A 12-month warranty covers the parts we replace, subject to our terms and conditions.
Can a sinking office chair gas lift be replaced?
Gas lift failure does not mean the chair is finished. We replace gas cylinders on the major commercial task chair brands and restore full height adjustment. On a floor of 50 or more chairs a gas lift swap is a small cost against replacing the chairs.
Can cracked office chair arm pads be replaced?
Polyurethane arm pads degrade with age and flake onto clothing and desks. We replace them with new pads matched to the chair model. Quick, low cost and instantly noticeable.
Can flat office chair seat foam be replaced?
We strip the seat and replace the foam with high-density cushioning, usually with new upholstery at the same time. Foam compresses over years of daily use, which is why the seat feels flat.
Is reupholstery enough for stained or torn office chairs?
Yes. Where the frame and mechanism are sound, reupholstery is enough. Old fabric off, foam replaced where needed, new commercial-grade fabric on. The chairs come back looking and feeling new.
Can you refurbish office chairs around an office move?
Yes. We collect from the old site, carry out the agreed work and deliver to the new one, cleaned and ready for day one. Moves are the ideal time to do it.
Can scuffed chrome chair bases be restored?
Yes. We restore scuffed chrome bases to a mirror finish, which transforms the look of the chair without touching anything else. Chrome picks up scuffs, oxidation and dull patches over years of use.
Can chipped office chair frames be powder coated?
Chair bases and frames take a beating in busy offices. We strip and powder coat them in a range of colours for a finish that outlasts paint.
