Steelcase builds some of the most durable task chairs on the market and the refurbished market knows it. The private resale market is small, so a batch is best sold to a refurbisher who can process it.
Which Steelcase Models Hold Their Value Best
- Gesture The current flagship and the strongest seller. Businesses buy it refurbished because new is out of reach, and a matching batch does not sit long.
- Leap V2 The best known Steelcase chair in the refurbished market and the one we buy most often. Arm caps and seat foam decide where a batch lands.
- Think V2 Strong demand in quantity for floors and hot desking. The seat and back mesh are what we assess.
- Leap V1 Older and a smaller pool of buyers, still worth selling as part of a batch rather than on its own.

What We Check on a Steelcase Batch

- Seat foam: still supportive or compressed flat
- Fabric: stains, tears and wear on the seat edges
- Mechanism: recline, tension, lumbar and seat depth all working

We state what we will pay rather than what the batch might fetch elsewhere. Arm caps, gas lifts and fabric are replaced as standard during refurbishment, so wear on those moves an offer a little. A failed mechanism moves it further.

Spec is worth photographing
Four-way arms, adjustable lumbar and seat depth put a Leap V2 at the top of its range. Two chairs can look identical in a photograph and price differently, so photograph the levers.
Fabric does not end it
Steelcase fabric is reupholstered during refurbishment. A batch with tired seats and a sound mechanism is still a batch we want.
Phone photographs are fine. These are the shots that let us make an offer that holds at inspection.

Steelcase is specified by facilities teams and unknown to most private buyers, so a marketplace listing sits for weeks. Refurbishers know exactly what a Leap V2 is worth and buy the whole batch at once.
The arm pads tell the story
Arm caps are the first thing to go on any Steelcase chair and the first thing we look at. They are replaced as standard, so a batch of tired caps is not a problem, it is a line in the refurbishment.
Spec changes the number
A Leap V2 with four-way arms, adjustable lumbar and seat depth is worth more than a base model. Photograph the arms and the lever cluster and we can price the batch properly.

Every batch is stripped, cleaned, fitted with new arm caps and gas lifts, reupholstered where the fabric has gone, tested and resold to another business. Do you buy single Steelcase chairs?
No. We buy from businesses and organisations in batches of 25 or more, and we do not buy home office furniture.
Which Steelcase models do you buy?
Leap V2, Gesture and Think V2 first, then Leap V1 and Please. Other Steelcase task chairs are considered on their photos.
How do I tell a Leap V1 from a V2?
The V2 has a squarer back with a visible flexing spine and a lever cluster on the right. The V1 has a rounder back and a different arm shape. The date code sits under the seat.
Is compressed seat foam a problem?
It lowers the offer rather than ruling a chair out. Foam and fabric are replaced during refurbishment, and a sound frame and mechanism matter far more.
Do you buy Steelcase desks and storage too?
Yes, in their own minimums: desks, storage and pedestals from 50 and ideally 100 or more. List them with the chairs and we price the lot together.
Can the value come off a clearance instead?
Yes. If the chairs are part of an office clearance their resale value is credited against the clearance invoice as Reuse Credit, and we handle the rest of the building.
