A single chair from a client office, photographed the day it arrived and the day it went back. This is what we do to seating at scale, one chair at a time.
From the Refurbishment Workshop
Photographed in our Lancashire workshop. Chairs are stripped, cleaned and reupholstered with new mechanisms and gas lifts where they are needed, and desk tops are cut and re-edged on site.

Tell us what you need
Send us photos, quantities and a brief description of what needs doing. Rough phone shots are fine.
We assess and quote
We confirm what can be refurbished, what work is needed and what it will cost. If an item is not worth refurbishing we say so.
Free sample on orders of 50 or more
On orders of 50 items or more we refurbish one item free of charge so you can see the quality and finish before committing. Something concrete to show stakeholders.
Collection and refurbishment
We collect from your premises and carry out all agreed work in our workshop.
Delivery and reinstallation
Your furniture comes back cleaned and ready to use. For larger projects we coordinate delivery to minimise disruption.
Coggin SOS also supplies refurbished furniture from stock and runs office clearance and furniture recycling. Handling these together keeps projects efficient and avoids duplication.
See the Work for Yourself
Seating refurbishment
Stripped and inspected, the mechanism serviced, then rebuilt with new gas lifts, arm pads or castors as needed, and reupholstered in your choice of commercial-grade fabric. The chair service is detailed on office chair refurbishment.
Desk resizing
Desks cut down and re-edged to fit your space, so a floor of oversized workstations becomes the layout you actually need without buying new.
This is what happens between collection and delivery. Every item is stripped, rebuilt and quality checked by hand at our Lancashire facility before it goes back to you.
Rated by the Businesses We Refurbish For
The team at Coggin helped me with an office refurb this summer and the service was 10/10. No pressure was applied and Jess allowed me to plan and take my time. We went ahead with 10 desks and multiple storage units, also replacing my old furniture and recycling it. Install was extremely smooth with minimal disturbance to our sales floor. We will be using Coggin to refurb 2 other offices in 2026 and 2027.

We used Coggin for our recent office refit. They removed for recycling our old office kit and supplied c. 30 refurbished chairs, at a fraction of the cost of buying new. From start to finish, Jess was a delight to work with, being prompt with information, keeping us informed and being flexible when we changed our minds. Would recommend these chaps in a heartbeat.

Thank you to Jess and all the team at Coggin for their hard work and dedication in providing us with more high quality refurbished chairs, and a full impact report for our ESG & sustainability reporting. I'd have no hesitation in recommending their services, every item we've received has been of very high quality with service to match.

Jess was a pleasure to deal with. Helped us pull together a package of refurbished office desks and chairs for our business in Scotland. The process was simple and delivery in 7 days. Any small hiccups were dealt with quickly and professionally which is all that can be asked for. Will be using these guys again - why would you not when the furniture is like new at a fraction of the new price.

Furniture Refurbishment Explained
Can all office furniture be refurbished?
No. Most commercial desks, chairs and storage can be refurbished, but some items are too damaged or not cost-effective to repair. We assess this upfront and will be honest if refurbishment is not the right option. Common issues like worn gas lifts, cracked arm pads, torn fabric and flat foam are almost always fixable.
What is office furniture refurbishment?
Office furniture refurbishment restores the desks, chairs and storage a business already owns instead of replacing them. Worn parts such as fabric, foam, gas lifts and castors are replaced and the sound frame is kept. A refurbished item goes back looking and working like new at up to 70% less than replacement.
Is refurbishment cheaper than buying new?
Yes, significantly. Full task chair refurbishment costs up to 70% less than replacing with new. Individual component repairs like gas lift or arm pad replacements are a fraction of the cost of a new chair.
Is there a minimum order size?
Yes. Our refurbishment service is set up for business projects of 10 or more items. This allows us to offer competitive pricing and efficient logistics. We are not able to accept single-item or domestic requests.
Can I see a sample before committing?
Yes. On orders of 50 items or more Coggin SOS refurbishes one item free of charge as a sample, so you can judge the quality and finish before committing to the fleet.
What does reupholstery involve?
We fully strip the existing fabric from the chair, replace the foam if needed, and reupholster using new commercial-grade fabric. You can choose from a range of colours and materials to match your office. Reupholstery is the most common refurbishment service we carry out. Fabrics, options and pricing are on the office chair reupholstery page.
Can you replace just the gas lift or arm pads?
Yes. You do not need a full refurbishment if only one component has failed. We regularly carry out individual gas lift replacements, arm pad replacements and castor swaps as standalone jobs.
Do you need to see the furniture in person?
In most cases, no. Photos, quantities and a brief description of the issues are usually enough for an initial assessment and quote. Site visits are only needed for larger or more complex projects.
How long does refurbishment take?
Most office furniture refurbishment jobs are completed within 2 to 4 weeks. Lead times depend on furniture type, quantity and the level of work needed. We confirm timescales before any work begins so you can plan around it.
Can you match specific fabric colours?
Yes. We work with a wide range of commercial upholstery fabrics and can match or complement your existing office colour scheme. We can send fabric samples before work starts.
Do you refurbish furniture from any manufacturer?
We refurbish furniture from most commercial manufacturers including Herman Miller, Steelcase, Orangebox, Humanscale, Senator, Sedus, Boss Design, HAG, Interstuhl and others. If you are unsure, send us photos and we will confirm.
What is the difference between powder coating and respraying?
Powder coating is a more durable finish than standard spray paint. The metal is stripped, cleaned and coated with a dry powder that is then heat-cured to create a hard, scratch-resistant surface. It is our recommended option for chair bases and desk frames that take heavy daily use. Standard respraying is available for items where powder coating is not practical.
Can you restore chrome chair bases?
Yes. We polish and restore chrome bases to remove scuffs, oxidation and dullness. For bases that are too damaged for polishing, we can powder coat them in a colour of your choice as an alternative.
Can refurbishment be combined with other services?
Yes. Refurbishment is often carried out alongside furniture supply, clearance or recycling as part of a wider office project. We can manage the full process.
What happens to furniture that cannot be refurbished?
If items are beyond repair, we can arrange collection, recycling and responsible disposal. Wherever possible we send nothing to landfill. We recycle what cannot be repaired and provide waste diversion reporting.
